Part two of Living Under God.
When you think about all of the denominations that have taken over the identity of the Christian Church; how can you be sure who, or what, to believe?
How do we know what the various thoughts, on God and the Bible, are correct?
I am asking all of these questions because with all of these different denominations comes different understandings and interpretations of “what the Bible says.”
So it behoves us to ask: Who is correct?
And why are they correct?
And why are they correct?
And, how are they so sure of what they think they know?
I was expose to the Bible as a child. I was familiar with all the Bible stories I learned in Sunday School. I have been a student of scripture since 1984. Since 1989 I have been privileged to preach and teach God’s Word.
Not bragging! Just letting you know that I have some idea of “what the Bible says.”
And still, I am not willing to tell you, for sure, exactly what all the words on the pages of the Bible mean. The Aramaic, Hebrew and Greek all far our weigh the simplicity of the English language.
So I am not willing to step up on a soapbox and proclaim judgment on anyone.
I will not limit God to a human mind’s ability to define God.
Nor will I tell you that I know exactly who God is; nor how He works, nor what His will is.
I am only willing to say what I believe.
I believe God came to earth in the baby Jesus body.
I believe that God has at least three dimensions -- God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.
That is one thing that Jesus makes clear; at least in the Gospel of John.
I do believe that when we read the four Gospels we can get a glimpse of God’s character and God’s will for His people.
What I will not do is assume that I can proclaim anyone a “sinner” who will not enjoy the saving power of God.
To speak God’s judgment is to play God. I won’t do that. First because I have no right. Secondly, to attempt to speak the mind of God in impossible.
The human mind was made with limits. We are not able, no matter how intelligent we may be, to comprehend the magnitude of God’s mind.
That is what I have come to understand in my seventy-seven years of knowing about God.
What I will suggest is that to know Jesus is to know, in some very tiny way, God’s character and God’s will.
