By The Grace of God

  on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
10 He will cut off the chariot from Ephraim
   and the warhorse from Jerusalem;
and the battle-bow shall be cut off,

The sign: King riding on a colt of a donkey.

It seems a dream.  It gives hope, the possibilities of something new, something different.

the battle-bow shall be cut off,
   and he shall command peace to the nations;

And wars will be no more.

For all believers — followers of Jesus — “will command peace to the nations.”

Imagine.  A new way of being.
                                            A bit of fresh air in our lungs.

I am remember a picture, that was featured, on the front page of a magazine in 1980.  It was a tiny green shoot growing out of the gray ash of the aftermath of Mount St. Helen’s erruption.

Or the dandelion showing its little yellow flower on the side walks of New York just a week after 9/11.

Or the twig, I mentioned a week or so ago, that I found on the sidewalk on the University of Chicago campus.

The humility of a king riding on a colt of a donkey.

All simply profound signs of hope —  of the restoration of life.

That is what Jesus brought to the nations of the earth.

This truth about what God did, and is doing, gives insight into tomorrow.  Or even today.

A tiny green spout,
              a dandelion,
                  a flattened twig.
                                         You and I,
                                                             God’s possibility.

And we are all — all - invited.

Invited to command peace to the world around us everyday.
