I was lying in my warm comfortable bed this morning watching the tree, out my window, moving with a mighty wind.
And I began to think of all the storms that have moved across the mid-west these past several weeks. Thunder, and lightening, and turbulent wind currents that swiftly moved upon the earth.
And I thought of the day of Pentecost when the Spirit of God brought tongues of fire and a mighty wind across Jerusalem. Clearing the fickle minds of Jesus’ disciples with a clarity as never before.
The lightening in last nights sky certainly looked to me like tongues of fire.
And I thought: ‘Maybe God is sending his Spirit into the minds of His people this summer.’
‘Maybe the Holy Spirit has come to bring clarity to this mislead nations confusion.'
And I felt a smile come to my lips.
6 The Lord works vindication
and justice for all who are oppressed.
The truth is, we never know when God is going to act.
We are most always unaware, mentally, of what and how God moves in, through, around and within us — within our world.
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name……
6 The Lord works vindication
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his acts to the people of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 He will not always accuse,
nor will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heavens are high above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love towards those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far he removes our transgressions from us.
13 As a father has compassion for his children,
so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him.
14 For he knows how we were made;
he remembers that we are dust. (Ps. 103)
