Religion and Politics

Traditionally it has been decided, for whatever reason,  that politics and religion are not to be placed side-by-side.  That religion and politics don’t mix.

Well, I have, for many years, disagreed.

I disagree because, at the core of my being, I believe that faith and everyday life — including politics — cannot be separated from the core values of our faith.

I believe that because all of our decisions, all of our ways of thinking, all of our logic and reasoning, all of our actions, are to be guided by what we believe in our hearts; that Jesus' came to tell us about God's way of being.

So, how can anyone, who claims to believe in God, conscientiously remove their faith from any area of living?

To do so would be hypocritical.

Do I think that a preacher should preach his or her political choices from the pulpit?  No!

However, When a preacher stays true to what they believe about the Gospel — what Jesus taught — it is often speaks to the law and the ways of those in political power.

Jesus’ teachings were often directed to the misuse of that culture's particular political system.  Which included the religious leaders loyalty to those in positions of  political power in Rome and Israel.
